The Pre-Primary boys have been exploring the use of technology to represent their learning. During our How We Express Ourselves inquiry we explored the use the 'green screen effect'. Our highly imaginative group created a make-believe game called The Battles, where they formed teams called The Pirates, The Power Rangers and The Creatures. They then created bases and props for their teams using loose parts and recycled materials. The boys played this game on the Pirate Ship every day for a whole term and it became the basis for the script for their iMovie. Together the boys wrote a script, designed costumes and acted their part in front of the green screen. They were thrilled to see their ideas and imagination come to life on the big screen.
This term during our How the World Works Inquiry we explored the use of stop animation video. We read the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' and investigated how bridges are built to meet the basic needs of societies. The boys created the characters from the story using plasticene then designed and created their own bridge using materials found within the classroom. They then used iMotion to produce an animated retell of the story.
It is so exciting to now see the boys confident to independently seek out and use this technology to enhance their play and learning.
